Double Ground

The project treats the site as a kind of excavation over which a lighter framed roof structure is been placed to modulate the intrinsic dualities of interiority and exteriority of the existing shell. The second floor that used to be part of the Tobacco Warehouse is theoretically rediscovered yet deformed, creating two distinct grounds, one above and one below it. In doing so, the existing shell becomes the frame of simultaneous activities that vary according to the time of day. Although the two levels can function independently from one another, the existing shell acts as the threshold from outside to inside, bringing the two together through a constant move in planes.
